Kozhikode, Sep 24 (UNI) The Samajwadi Janaparishad (SJ) will convene people's parliament throughout the country to raise awareness among the people against the 123 agreement between India and the US.

Talking to newspersons here today, SJ Vice-President Joshi Jacob said representatives of political parlities and socio-cultural organisations opposed to the deal would participate in the movement, beginning at Vatakara in the district and Kottayam on November seven.

A decision to convene people's parliament was taken following the government's failure to take Parliament into confidence before signing the agreement on the important isssue concerning the security of the nation, he said.

Although the Left parties, to a certain extent, were opposed to the deal, they were unable to block operationalisation of the deal, he accused.

As part of its all-India agitation against the deal, the SJ would observe fast at Kannur, Kozhikode, Ernakulam, Pala and Thiruvananthapuram on October 2, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, he added.
