SC Committee meet CM, submit memorandum

Puducherry, Sep 24 (UNI) The Steering and Monitoring committee of the scheduled caste sub-plan today urged the administration to ensure that the special component plan funds be utilised only for the welfare of the Adidravidars in the Union Territory.

Committee members, who called on Chief Minister N Rangasamy and submitted a memorandum in this regard, also urged him to provide polyester clothes under the free garment scheme to the adidravidars instead of handloom clothes.

They demanded that the sub-plan for the welfare of the adidravidar people be separately earmarked in the budget for the next financial year and formation of a Forum comprising all Dalits for their welfare.

Before meeting the Chief Minister, they garlanded the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar in front of the Legislative Assembly.
