Madhubani, Sep 24 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today reiterated that connecting the remote areas of the country with the prominent places through railways was on the top of his agenda.

After flagging off the Gangasagar Express at Jaynagar railway station, Mr Prasad said the railways, a loss-turned-profit making venture, earned Rs 20,000 crore profit during the last fiscal.

He hoped the sector would establish new record in future.

Mr Prasad said the credit of the profit went to the Railway employees.

He said the long-cherished dreams of Mithilanchal to travel in Express trains on the Jaynagar-Madhubani-Darbhanga rail division became a reality with the beginning of plying of trains on the section.

Besides Madhubani and Darbhanga districts, the Terai (valley) region of Nepal would be directly linked to the metropolitan cities of the country, he added.
