Rahul Gandhi appointed AICC General Secretary

New Delhi, Sept 24: Mr Rahul Gandhi, Amethi MP and son of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, was today named as AICC General Secretary incharge of the Youth Congress and the NSUI and also inducted into the Congress Working Commitee as the party undertook a massive organisational reshuffle.

Making the announcement at a hurriedly-called press conference, AICC media incharge Janardhan Dwivedi said 12 General Secretaries had been appointed.

Apart from Mr Gandhi, the other General Secretaries are Mr Motilal Vora, Mr Ashok Gehlot, Mr B K Hariprasad, Mr Digvijay Singh, Mr Kishore Chandra Deo, Mr Mukul Wasnik, Mrs Margaret Alva, Mrs Mohsina Kidwai, Mr Prithviraj Chavan, Mr V Narayansami and Mr Dwivedi himself.

The Congress Working Comittee was also reconstituted.

The reconstituted CWC comprises Ms Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Mr Ahmed Patel, Mr Arjun Singh, Mrs Ambika Soni, Mr A K Antony, Mr B K Hariprasad, Mr Janardhan Dwivedi, Mrs Mohsina Kidwai, Mrs Margaret Alva, Mr Motilal Vora, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, Mr Rahul Gandhi, Mr Saifuddin Soz and Mr Shivraj Patil, Mr Dwivedi announced.
