New Delhi, Sept 24 (UNI) Providing customers affordable internet experience, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) today launched 'Nova netPC' package that provides monitor, keyboard and USB ports, enabling users to browse broadband at Rs 399 a month.
The Nova netPC uses a central network server, placed at MTNL's exchange, to run software applications and store data.
The home user service costs Rs 1,999 (plus taxes) without the monitor, while the monitor will be available at an extra cost of Rs 3,000, and includes a 30-hour internet access.
''MTNL will help take computing to its fixed line customers and democratise access to information,'' MTNL CMD R S P Sinha told reporters at the launch of the service in association with Chennai-based Novatium Solutions here.
The service has been started only in the national capital, he added.
''Nova netPC is an affordable and simple desktop. We have made it very user-friendly, so that it can now be operated like any household appliance at the touch of a button,'' Novatium Solution Pvt Ltd CEO Alok Singh said.
The Nova netPC is compatible with all network server running operating systems like Microsoft Windows, Linux or Sun Solaris.
The company is looking at targetting a subscriber base of 25,000 in Delhi by this fiscal-end, he said adding that it would add more than five crore subscribers in the next five years.
The package includes a keyboard, USB ports and uses a central network server to run software applications and store data.
