HC orders Centre to grant minors family pension

Chandigarh, Sept 24 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court, taking note of the extreme hardships faced by Jalandhar Cantt- based surviving minor children of a deceased BSF sweeper, has directed the authorities concerned in the union government to grant within three months the family pension to these children.

The counsel for the petitioner had apprised the court during the hearing that of the five children, the son of the deceased Prem Nath is working, while of the four daughters, one got married while another (petitioner) died leaving behind the two daughters Gori and Anu.

The order were given by the the division bench of Justices Ashutosh Mohunta and Tej Pratap Singh Mannbench while disposing of the writ petition filed by Goldy, one of the daughters who died while a decision on the petition was under consideration of the court.

The petitioner was held to be entitled for the family pension from October 1, 2005 to June 20, 2011 as per the union government reply filed in the court.
