New Delhi, Sep 24 (UNI) National Democratic Alliance Convenor and former defence minister George Fernandes today condemned the CBI raids on the house of Major General(retd.) V K Singh and Manas Publications and said that it meant that the government wanted to ''hide corruption and acts of malfeasance''.
''The raids ordered by the government on the publishers Manas Publications and on the house of Maj Gen (retd.) V K Singh, who served the country as a RAW official, must be condemned by every person,'' Mr Fernandes said in a statement here.
He said that it displayed that those in government had no use for truth and also wanted to hide its corruption and acts of malfeasanace.
The raids on Maj Gen Singh's house were conducted as he had irked some quarters in the government with his book "India's External Intelligence: Secrets of RAW". The CBI has registered a case against him under Section five (wrongful communication of information) of the Official Secrets Act.
The CBI on Saturday conducted searches at the office and printing press of Manas Publications, which had published the book written by former RAW official on the country's external intelligence agency.
