Jaipur, Sep 24 (UNI) Dr C P Joshi, who will replace Dr B D Kalla as the new Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee President, started his career as an academician.
A professor of psychology at the Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, Dr Joshi was elected to the seventh Rajasthan Assembly for the first time in 1980. He has been a member of the Assembly in the eighth and twelfth Assembly from the Nathdwara Assembly seat.
Born on July 29, 1950 at Kuariya village, now in Rajsamand district, the Congress leader has a masters degree in Physics and a doctorate in Psychology. He is also a law graduate.
Dr Joshi started his political career as a firebrand students' leader. He held the portfolio of Education, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and PHED in the previous Congress governemt led by Mr Ashok Gehlot.
He held the post of general secretary of the PCC and was also a member of the Rajasthan University syndicate.
