Guna, MP, Sep 24 (UNI) The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) wants to share power with Brahmins in Madhya Pradesh on the lines of neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, the party's Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Brajesh Pathak has said.

In view of next year's Assembly poll in this state, the BSP conducted a brahmin convention here yesterday as part of a series.

''In India, a party comes to power only after garnering support of brahmins, Muslims and dalits,'' claimed Mr Pathak, adding that the experiment was successful in Uttar Pradesh and would be adopted in Madhya Pradesh also.

Pointing out that the BSP fielded brahmin candidates from 86 seats in Uttar Pradesh, he said that 46 emerged victorious and ten brahmins were among those sworn in as ministers.

''Similarly, adequate representation will be given to the caste if my party assumes the reins in this state,'' he promised.

Brahmin conventions were held in the Vindhya region -- bordering Uttar Pradesh -- besides Bundelkhand.
