Valencia beat Betis 2-1 for fourth consecutive win

MADRID, Sep 23 (Reuters) Valencia overcame Real Betis 2-1 away in the Primera Liga to earn their fourth consecutive win in all competitions today.

Portugal fullback Miguel set them on their way with a great individual effort and winger Joaquin sealed the win against his former club in the closing stages.

Brazilian Rafael Sobis pulled one back for Betis at the end.

Valencia climbed to third on nine points, the same as second-placed Villarreal who beat Real Murcia at home with two goals in the last five minutes from Italian striker Giuseppe Rossi.

Later today, leaders Real Madrid visit promoted Valladolid looking to extend their 100 per cent record and Atletico Madrid host Racing Santander in search of their first league win.

Yesterday, Lionel Messi led Barcelona to a 2-1 home victory over Sevilla that put them a point behind Real in fourth. Sevilla are fifth with six points.
