Pak recce team happy with eden facility

By Staff

Kolkata, Sep 23 (UNI) After overseeing the facilities at the Eden Gardens, Director of Cricket Operations, Pakistan, Zakir Khan, today said it is the Mecca of cricket and the players will really like to play on this ground.

A two-member Pakistan team came to oversee the facilities here at Eden Gardens ahead of the team's November 14 tie at this venue.

Zakir Khan was accompanied by Sohail Khan and BCCI representative Suru Naik.

Both the officials oversaw the facilities at the BC Roy premises, the indoor facilities and gymnasium and expressed their satisfaction. They, however, could not put their foot on to the ground as it was waterlogged. They also visited the team hotel.

Zakir, a former fast bowler, later addressing the press meet, said, ''We are happy seeing the facility. It is the home of cricket in the sub-continent and all the players are waiting to play on this ground.'' Zakir later gave the budding Bengal cricketers some tips too.

Sohail Khan, however, said there were some suggestions regarding the security and that he would talk about only to the BCCI.

He also informed that last night the duo had visited the ground at Guwahati. ''We will give our report to the BCCI on September 25.'' Commenting on the twenty-20 World Cup Final, Zakir khan said, ''It's a dream match. Both the teams have equal chance.'' They were accompanied by CAB President and City police Commissioner Prasun Mukherjee and Joint-Secretary Amitava Banerjee.
