Oscar Bansal holds spotlight in Chandigarh Badminton

Chandigarh, Sept 23 (UNI) International shuttler Oscar Bansal hogged the limelight by claiming four titles and also winning the Player of the Tournament award in the 19th Yonex Chandigarh State Open Badminton Championships which concluded here today.

A student of Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication in Panjab University, Chandigarh, Bansal, who was a member of the Indian team which recently participated in the International Tournament in Indonesia, defeated Pankaj Nathani 21-16, 21-12 in the men's singles final.

He also won the boys Under-19 singles title after beating Tushar 21-18, 21-17.

Junior National champion. Kultej Singh, Deputy Commissioner Income Tax was the chief guest and gave away the prizes.

Indian badminton coach Vijaydeep Singh was the guest of honour., Results (all finals): Under 13 girls singles: Rashmi bt Daman Sharma 21-14, 21-5.

Doubles: Rashmi and Daman bt Shreya and Mehak Sood 20-22, 21-14, 21-18.

Under-16 girls singles: Nisha bt Chetna 21-8, 21-15. Doubles: Nisha and Pooja bt Manvika and Rashmi 21-11, 21-16.

Under 19 girls singles: Purnica bt Nisha 21-15, 21-15. Doubles: Purnica and Chetna bt Nisha and Tanupriya 21-15, 21-13.

Womens' singles: Navita Thakur bt Manju 21-16, 15-21, 21-5.

Doubles: Manju and Navita bt Seema and Purnica 21-17, 18-21, 21-10.

Under -16 boys singles: Harminder bt Kanwar G.S.Cheema 21-13, 21-13. Doubles: Tarush and Harminder bt Kanwar Cheema and Rishab 21-12, 21-10.

Under -19 boys singles: Oscar Bansal bt Tushar 21-18, 21-17.

Doubles: Oscar Bansal and Ankur bt Tushar and Aman Sethi 21-15, 21-16.

Men's sngles: Oscar Bansal bt Pankaj Nathani 21-16, 21-12.

Doubles: Ashish and Pankaj bt Oscar and Vivek 21-13, 17-21, 21-19.
