Mangalore, Sep 23 (UNI) Director General of Police (DGP) Shankar Bidari today hinted that there was information with the police that some naxalites of CPI (Maoist) group operating in the Western Ghat range were willing to surrender to join the main stream of the society.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Bidari said those insurgents, who wished to surrender need not have any fear or anxiety. There was also no need for them to surrender before the police, he added.
The DGP said ''If they want they can approach the nearest police station or surrender before the court. If there is any case against them they can seek bail and the investigation would continue. If there was no case filed against them, they are free to go and live happily in their homes. They are welcome if they decided to shun arms''.
Referring to the murder of builder Subba Rao in the city recently, he said the builders need not panic on such threatening calls. They could inform the nearest police station, who would take all precautionary measures to protect their lives, he added.
