Bhopal, Sep 23 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today ordered a judicial inquiry into yesterday's firing at the JP Cement Factory gate in Rewa district's Nawastha, official sources said.
Mr Chouhan said the probe would reveal who exactly fired the shots.
The Chief Minister announced the inquiry earlier at a press conference organised after the conclusion of a three-day National Executive meet of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here.
''The police did not open fire,'' he claimed.
The related query was put to BJP President Rajnath Singh but as the matter directly concerned the state the response came from Mr Chouhan.
An agitator was killed and more than 30 injured in firing on slogan-shouting villagers. A mob later used petrol to torch an Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus at Rewa after making passengers alight.
