Islamabad, Sep 23 (UNI) Major headway is soon expected in the ongoing talks between the Pakistan government and Benazir Bhutto's Pakistan People's Party, Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed said.

Mr Syed, however, added that no timeframe could be given on the success of talks with the party, Daily Times reported.

He said general election would follow the presidential election to be conducted under the supervision of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), ''not President Pervez Musharraf''.

''The opposition should avoid politics of confrontation and double standards on the issue of presidential election,'' he said. The government, he said, would accept the Supreme Court verdict on President Pervez Musharraf's two offices and his re-election bid.
