New Delhi, Sep 23: Indian Idol finalists Amit Paul and Prashant Tamang met Congress president Sonia Gandhi here yesterday to seek her blessings ahead of the grand finale of the event in the city this evening.
Amit and Prashant, who arrived in the city a couple of days ago for the grand finale of the reality show, said they had come to seek the blessings of Mrs Gandhi for the final event.
Speaking about the meeting with Mrs Gandhi, Prashant, who hails from Darjeeling, said, ''I remember when the Prime Minister or the President arrived in darjeeling on a visit, no one was allowed to be in the vicinity of the place where they were staying. In this sense, getting to meet Mrs Sonia Gandhi was a dream come true.'' On her part, Mrs Gandhi said it was a privilege for her to meet Amit and Prashant, both of whom, she said, were idols in their own way.
The run up to the Grand Finale of the Indian Idol has generated huge excitement all over the country with friends, well-wishers of both Prashant and Amit raising the pitch to garner support for them.
Amit hails from Shillong whilst Prashant's hometown is Darjeeling.
On Friday, Amit and Prashant had their last perfromance in Kolkata, before the grand finale in Delhi scheduled for this evening.
