Bangalore, Sep 23 (UNI) Karnataka Additional director general of police Shankar Bidri today said the elaborate security arrangements for the September 28 local body elections polling was being made for conduct of peaceful polls.
Election would be held to 20 local bodies for which 15,000 candidates are in fray.
Speaking to mediapersons here he said in the Western Range comprising of four districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Chikmagalur, he said that a total of 39 District Armed Reserve (DAR) police, 19 KSRP and 907 Home Guard personnel have been deployed in the four district for keeping peace and free and fair election.
He said that out of total 1105 election booths in Daxina Kannada, 356 have been identified as hyper sensitive, 526 as sensitive and 323 as general booths. In Udupi district, of the total 146 booths, 6 booths would be hyper sensitive, while 70 each as sensitive and general booths respectively.
He said that in Uttar Kannada, 84 booths out of the total 288 booths have been identified as hyper sensitive while, 116 booths would fall in the sensitive category and remaining 38 would be as general booths. Of the total 231 booths in Chikmagalur, 120 were identified as hyper sensitive, 102 as sensitive and 94 as general booths. there would be 38 mobile police squad would be on the duty in Daxina Kannada, 31 in Uttar Kannada, 18 in Udupi and 40 in Chikmagalur district on duty on the polling day, he added.
