Mumbai, Sep 22 (UNI) Top seed Richard Gasquet, ranked sixth in the world, has been drawn against Kristof Vliegen of Belgium in the first round of the 416,000 dollars Kingfisher Airlines Mumbai Open tennis tournament to be held at the Cricket Club of India Hard Courts here from September 24-30.
The draw, which was held today, has pitted second seed Lleyton Hewitt of Australia against a qualifier, while the top ranked Indian in this tournament Rohan Bopanna, who was given a wild card, will play his first round match against Nicolas Devilder of France.
The other Indian wild carder Somdev Varman will clash with Fabio Fognini of Italy and if he goes through, is likely to meet top seed Richard Gaquet in the second round.
The third wild carder Nicolas Kiefer of Germany, who was once ranked as high as fourth in the world before being injured, has been pitted against his countryman and third seed Paul-Henri Mathieu in the first round itself.
The winner of this tournament will be richer by 65,850 dollars , while the runner up will get 35,500 120 dollars. The semi-finalists will be richer by 19,750 75 dollars and the quarter-finalist by 11,000 40 dollars.
