Sunita Williams is champion of wamen empowerment: Modi

Ahmedabad, Sep 22 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today lauded Indian-American astronaut Sunita Williams and described her as a champion of women empowerment in the Indian culture ''Ms Williams while narrating her experience in the space said borders of nations become insignificant when you look at the Earth from the space. This also forms the crux of the Indian culture- Vishwa Kutumbakam- the philosophy of a world as one family. If this philosophy is followed internationally, the world can be saved from global warming and terrorism,'' said Mr Modi at the felicitation function of Ms Williams at the Gujarat University.

The Chief Minister said Ms Williams has made Gujarat famous in the world. ''She is the champion of woman empowerment. She is the inspiration to the young generation.'' UNI
