Spread party policies to win public confidence: Agarwal to workers

New Delhi, Sep 22 (UNI) Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) President Jai Prakash Agarwal today exhorted party workers to propagate the party's policies and programmes in their areas to help win the confidence of the common people.

Addressing party workers during a visit to the Block Congress Committees (BCCs) of Shakarpur and Preet Vihar in the trans-Yamuna areas, Mr Agarwal said the BCCs were the grassroot level foundation and the strength of the party.

''While the workers are the main assets and strength of the party, it cannot succeed unless the cadres win over the confidence of the common people,''Mr Agarwal said.

The President said it was the responsibility of every party worker to enlighten the public about the benefits of the Indo-US nuclear deal, which was intended to uplift the lot of the common people by making available electricity in every nook and corner of the country.

The new DPCC chief said with the Congress party ruling at the Centre and in Delhi, it was the responsibility of the party cadre to address the problems of the people and find satisfactory solutions so that the people's trust and faith in the party and the Government remain as solid as before.

He said Delhi had been ruled by a Congress government for the past nine years during which many wonderful schemes were initiated to improve the conditions of the people which should be given wide publicity by the party workers.

Mr Agarwal said it was his primary responsibility to establish a cordial relationship betweenthe party and the government.

MP Sandeep Dikshit, Mandawali MLA Meera Bhardwaj and Viswasnagar MLA Naseeb Singh, district president Amrish Gautam, former Municipal Councillors of the areas, contested Congress candidates and a large number of Congress workers were also present on the occasion.

Mr Agarwal honoured the Block Congress Committee presidents, Ram Prashad of Shakarpur and Yogesh Kaushik of Preet Vihar, by draping them with shawls.
