Panaji, Sep 22 (UNI) Richa Mishra's twin gold with one new meet record and another meet record by Arjun Muralidharan hogged the limelight on the penultimate day of the 61st Senior National Aquatic Championship at Campal swimming pool in Goa.
Karnataka's Rohit Havaldar, Shekha Tandon, and Sandeep N A maintained their winning spree by winning golds, while Sandeep Sejwal of Delhi and Lekha Kamath of Maharashtra also claimed a gold each. For Maharashtra, it was the first gold in the championship.
Richa Mishra of police today set a new meet record in the 1500-metre free style with a new timing of 18:00:64 erasing the existing record of 18:30:54 standing in the name of her team-mate Charu Mishra recorded last year. Richa also bagged the gold in the 200-metre butterfly stroke with a timing of 02:20:80.
Another new meet record by Arjun Muralidharan, also of the police, was in the 200-metre butterfly stroke with a new timing of 02:03:05.
Arjun improved his own existing record of 02:04:56.
Karnataka's Rohit Havaldar bagged the gold in 1500-metre free-style with a timing of 16:51:18, while Shikha Tandon won the gold in the 50-metre back stroke with a timing of 00:31:48. Sandeep N A brought the third gold for Karnataka in the 50-mere back stroke with a timing of 00:28:39.
Maharashtra's Lekha Kamath bagged gold in the breast stroke with a timing of 00:36:57 and Delhi's Sandeep Sejwal claimed gold in the 50-metre breast stroke event for men with a timing of 00:29:45.
In the diving event, Yogesh Watve (SSCB) claimed gold in the 1-metre spring board with 276.00 points and in the women section, Hrutika Shriram (Railways) bagged the gold with 173.50 points.
