Puducherry, Sep 22 (UNI) Textile Workers Asian Regional Organisation (TWARO) Women's Committee Chairperson and International Textile Garment and Leather Workers Federation(ITGLWF)-Philipines Council General Secretary Angelita Advento today stressed on implementation of ILO Convention agreement on women's welfare.

Talking to newspersons on the sidelines of a three-day TWARO South Asian Women's Workshop on Maternity Protection, Ms Advento said the TWARO was working for maternity protection.

This was the second time a workshop on the theme was being organised after the one in Singapore, she said, adding that the recommendations of the workshop would be forwarded to respective governments for implementation.

She said women workers were being exploited with lower wages, longer working hours, very bad working conditions and less opportunities for training. They were not allowed to even go for medical check-up.

Hence, the TWARO wanted the ILO agreement to be implemented seriously in every country.

The workshop would discuss in detail the issues affecting women in different parts of Asia-Pacific.
