PML to launch massive campaign for re-election of Musharraf

Islamabad, Sep 22 (UNI) Preparations for presidential election are on in Pakistan with the the Pakistan Muslim League (PML) deciding to initiate a large-scale election campaign across the country from September 27 for the re-election of Gen Pervez Musharraf.

Hoardings of the President, along with banners and slogans would be displayed in front of Parliament House here, the Daily Times quoted PML sources as saying.

Posters of Gen Musharraf would be displayed in cities, towns and villages across the country. Seminars and public meetings would be held by PML leaders to convince the masses to vote for him.

They would also give interviews to newspapers and participate in TV talk shows to make people aware of the performance of the present government.

Re-iterating their confidence in the re-election of Gen Musharraf, PML Punjab Secretary General Chaudhry Zaheeruddin said he would be re-elected unopposed and take oath as a civilian, strengthening democratic values in the country.

The opposition should also support Gen Musharraf for the sake of national interest, he added.

Meetings of the national and provincial assemblies would also be held after the filing of nomination papers by Gen Musharraf to convince legislators to vote for Gen Musharraf.
