Mumbai, Sep 22 (UNI) The possibility of a mid-term election and the fall of the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government does not depend on the, LJP, Union Minister for Chemical, Fertiliser and Steel Ram Vilas Paswan said here today.
Without making any clear comment on the issue of possibility of mid-term elections due to ongoing differences between the Left and the Congress on the Indo-US nuclear deal, Mr Paswan shared his views.
Talking to mediapersons at a formal open session of the Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers' annual general meeting, the Union Minister said the Left itself, within the party, lacked a unanimous stand on the issue of the nuclear deal as Mr Bashu said something in West Bengal and at the same time, some other party member made differing comments down South.
Making his stand clear on the issue of the nuclear deal, he said, ''I am and will continue to support the Government on the issue.
Moreover, my party will favour the side which is in favour of national interests and sovereignty of the country.'' UNI
