Koda seeks 15 battalion of CRPF to counter naxalism

Ranchi, Sep 22 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda today urged the Centre to send 15 battalion of the CRPF in the wake of increase naxalite activities in the state.

Union Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrashekhar, who led a high level Central team here, called on the Chief Minister to discuss various issues concerning the state.

The Chief Minister expressed concern over the tardy progress of the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification scheme and said the Damodar Valley Corporation and National Thermal Power Corporation were given a deadline to implement the scheme by 2009.

Mr Koda stressed on Central intervention for the completion of rural electrification within the scheduled time.

Regarding the panchayat polls, he told the Central emissary that the issue was pending in the Supreme Court and the Centre should take the initiative to solve it as soon as possible.
