Bhubaneswar, Sep 22: Hundreds of criminal cases against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi will be filed in courts across the country from Monday for his remarks on Lord Ram, VHP International General Secretary Prabin Bhai Tagodia said here today.
Talking to newsmen, Mr Tagodia said he had received communications from hundreds of people approaching him to move the court against the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister for deliberately hurting the religious sentiments of the Hindus.
He said the saints from Ayodhya, Haridwar and Kashi would also move the court against Mr Karunanidhi under Section 295 of IPC for passing remarks against Lord Ram and challenged the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to face a debate on his remarks with the saints and dharmacharayas of Ayodhya.
Mr Tagodia said the VHP would not allow the Ram setu to be given a political colour and warned the Centre that the movement would be more violent if it did not refrain from destroying Ram setu.
He said publication of Tamil Nadu district gazetteers for Ramanathapuram in 1972 had exposed the "double standard" of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister as he himself had admitted the existence of Ram setu.
The VHP leader described Mr Karunanidhi as a'' Hindu baiter'', who though claimed to be an atheist had accepted the Muslim religion by providing them with 15 per cent reservation in the state a fortnight ago.
Mr Tagodia claimed that nearly four lakh fishermen, who largely depended upon fishing, would lose their jobs if the Centre went ahead with the project ignoring their plight. He also made it clear that the movement against the Ram setu was more on collective issue of 85 crore of Hindus of the country and would be intensified under the leadership of sadhus and not by the political leaders.
The VHP leader alleged that there had been an international conspiracy to prevent India from becoming super power economically.
The huge deposit of Thorium near the Ram setu, he said, could generate four lakh MW of power against the requirement of 1,20,000 MW of power for the next 400 years.
The United States, Mr Tagodia said, wanted to destroy the Ram setu so that the Thorium deposit would be washed away shattering India's hope to emerge as the most powerful in the electricity generation.
He held Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi primarily responsible for the destruction of the Ram setu and alleged that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister was working at the dictats of the United States.
The VHP International General Secretary further said the Rameswaram Ram setu Surakhya Manch would organise a nationwide agitational programme from September 27 to October 10 to undertake padayatra from every nook and corner of the country, hold Ram setu public rallies and Ramayan, Rameswaram Shiv lingam pujas at all places to oppose the destruction of the Ram setu by the UPA government.
