Ahmedabad, Sep 22 (UNI) A local court today rejected bail applications of five of the accused, allegedly involved in the murder of US-based NRI Pankaj Trivedi last year.

City Sessions Judge P P Bhatt rejected the bail applications moved by Hitesh Chudasma, Chandrakant Daki, Dakesh Shah, Chandrasinh Jadeja and Bhupatsinh Jadeja.

The government lawyer argued that the five had conspired to murder Trivedi and they should not be granted bail as they could tamper with the evidences.

Trivedi, an NRI American citizen and prominent member of the non-governmental socio-cultural organisation ''Swadhyay Parivar'' was brutally attacked and murdered just outside the city's posh club ''Ellisbridge Gymkhana'' by fellow ''Swadhyayis'' over internal matters on June 15, 2006.

The NRI was allegedly murdered because he had raised his voice against the head of the organisation, Jayshree Didi, and had accused her of indulging in malpractices.

Eleven people, including Ahmedabad's Bharat Bhatt popularly called 'Motabhai' were arrested for the murder.
