150 new judges to be appointed in Punjab
Patiala, Sep 22 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Vijender Jain today said as many as 150 new judicial officers would be appointed in the Punjab soon.
Interacting with mediapersons after a function of the Bar Association here he said there were 5.80 lakh cases still pending in the courts of Punjab due to a shortage of judges.
Earlier addressing the Bar Association, Justice Jain said lawyers could play a vital role in shaping the destiny of the country by protecting the rule of law.
He also exhorted the legal fraternity to discharge their duty with professional commitment, dedication and sincerity in the larger public interest.
Referring to the possibilities of new cases related to cyber crime, IT sector and Intellectual Right Protection, the Chief Justice advised the lawyers to equip themselves with the best tools of library and Information Technology for updating their day-to-day knowledge.
