Sankararaman murder case hearing deferred
Puducherry, Sep 21 (UNI) A local court today posted the hearing on the Sankararaman murder case, in which Kanchy Acharyas Jayendra Saraswati and Vijayendra Saraswati are the prime accused, to October 22.
Puducherry Principal District and Sessions judge, D J Krisnaraja deferred the hearing as 14 out of the 24 accused, including the Acharyas failed to turn up. Separate petitions, citing reasons for their absence, were filed by fellow accused.
It may be noticed that the case could not be conducted in Puducherry since a Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the defence objecting to the countinued appearance of Tamil Nadu Special Prosecutor was still pending before the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, the lawyers were boycotting the court for the second day today to protest the alleged attack on their colleague in Cuddalore.
