Islamabad, Sep 21 (UNI) Claiming that the ruling coalition has a clear majority in Parliament, Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz today said President Pervez Musharraf would be the joint candidate of PML and its coalition partners.
Mr Aziz said the Presidential election, would be followed by the general elections, which would be held in a 'free and fair manner'.
"Presidential election will augur well for political stability and democracy in Pakistan," he said while talking to a group of parliamentarians who called on him at the PM House.
The Prime Minister said that PML along with its coalition partners will contest the next general elections on the basis of their performance in the office over the last five years.
Mr Aziz exuded confidence that people will vote for the PML and its coalition candidates to ensure continuity of policies that have benefitted them.
Highlighting his government's achievements, Mr Aziz said for the first time the assemblies are completing their tenure and this will consolidate democracy in Pakistan.
He asserted that PML government and coalition partners have given the desired political stability for economic development in Pakistan During the meeting, the Parliamentarians also discussed the political situation of the country.
