Minor rescued from UP by Delhi police, three arrested

New Delhi, Sep 21 (UNI) The Delhi police have rescued an eight-year-old boy, who was kidnapped from Jahangirpuri in North Delhi on September 18, from Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh and arrested three persons in this connection.

Rahul Shukla, who went missing from Hanuman Mandir in Jahangirpuri on the night of September 18, was found by a district police team roaming near the Shahbad railway station in Hardoi district yesterday.

Rahul's mother Uma had lodged a complaint with the police about her missing son and that abductors had demanded a ransom of Rs 5 lakh from her to be delivered in Hardoi.

Two teams of Delhi police then headed for UP and based on inputs from the police teams in Delhi and investigationns in UP, it was established that the boy was with accused Sri Ram and Virender Singh who were assisted in the kidnapping by Vijay, a first cousin of Rahul's mother, and another accused Mangal.

Following police trail and raids at their hideouts, the kidnappers released the boy near the railway track at Hardoi.

The police subsequently managed to arrest three of the kidnappers - - Vijay, Virender Singh and Mangal. Efforts are on to nab other accused Sri Ram.

Rahul has been handed over to his mother.
