HC notice to Punjab Govt on Amarinder's plea to go abroad

Chandigarh, Sept 21 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court justice Ranjit Singh today issued notice for September 27 to the Punjab government on a petition filed by former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh seeking permission to go abroad.

Capt Singh has pleaded that he had to go to Britain for medical check up as a follow-up to surgery he underwent in March-April this year.

He also wishes to visit Dubai to make some invesment following the Centre's relaxation to invest abroad to the tune of one lakh US Dollars in one financial year.

The petitioner has also submitted that a blanket permission be granted to him to enable him to leave the country as and when required after informing the court.

He needed permission due to a case pending against him in Ludhiana with charges of corruption regarding the City Centre project of Ludhiana Imporvement Trust.
