Govt employees to participate in 1-day nation-wide strike on Oct 30

Kolhapur, Sep 21 (UNI) About one crore employees comprising Union and state governments, semi-government entities, teachers and non-teaching staff will participate in a one-day nation-wide strike on October 30.

Addressing a news conference here today, Central Government Employees Sanghatana leader R P Singh and State Employees Central Sanghatana working president jointly said the aim of the proposed strike is to draw government's attention towards long-pending demands of the employees.

Their demands include implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission from January 1, 2006, a hike of Rs 1,000 as interim relief from January 1, 2006, to employees, withdrawal of bonus limit, stop privatisation of government, semi-government services and no change in pension scheme among others, they added.
