Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu, Sep 21 (UNI) A mob armed with deadly weapons ransacked the office of a lawyer of the Madurai bench of Madras High Court and attacked the clerk, here today.
Police said the lawyer, S Sivakumar, had previous enmity with his neighbour K Sukarno, a businessman, over a piece of vacant land. The trouble started when Sivakumar attempted to build a house in the land. Enraged over this, Sukarno and his associates ransacked the office of Sivakumar, damaging furniture and case files.
The gang attacked the clerk Ramar (28) in the office, with sickles, when he attempted to resist the gang. He was admitted to the Government Hospital here.
A group of lawyers resorted to a road blockade before the Sivaganga District Court on the Sivaganga-Tiruppathur main road, demanding action against the culprits involved in the attack.
Senior police officials rushed to the spot, pacified the agitating lawyers and assured action against the culprits.
Meanwhile, the Sivaganga Bar Association threatened to launch a series of agitations if the police failed to take immediate action against the offenders.
