TTD nets Rs 23.41 lakh from cottage allotment
Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 20 (UNI) The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) recorded a collection of Rs 23.41 lakh from allotment of cottages to pilgrims visiting the holy hills for the nine-day Braahmotsavams, which commenced on September 15, in the last six-days, TTD Deputy Executive Officer Srinivas said here today.
Addressing the press, Mr Srinivas said on the 317 VIP rooms and 5,115 general cottages the TTD recorded an occupancy rate of 94.72 per cent in six days against 96 per cent last year and netted Rs 44.70 lakh.
To a question, he agreed common pilgrims cottages were in poor condition and necessary steps had been taking for developing them besides providing hot water connection to each cottage for benefit of the pilgrims.
Six months before commencent of the Brahmotsavams, all cottages were cleaned and repaired to avoid inconvenience to devotees.
