Jaipur, Sep 20 (UNI) Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Sumitra Singh today held that Sonia Gandhi could not be termed as a foreigner any more.
The speaker's observation came in the wake of a remark made by BJP member Kali Charan Saraf against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Ms Gandhi during discussion on the Ram Sethu issue.
Though Mr Saraf did not specifically name Ms Gandhi in his remark but since it was targeted against her and the Prime Minister, the remark evoked opposition from Congress benches, who demanded that the comment should be expunged.
The Speaker held that the remark against the Prime Minister was unparliamentary and inappropriate, hence this was being expunged from the record.
She also held that after marriage, the status of a woman get changed and accordingly Ms Gandhi could not be treated as a foreigner, any longer.
