Bogus land registry by Narmada Dam oustees

Bhopal, Sep 20: A special investigation team of police will be constituted to probe into complaints about producing fake documents about purchase of agriculture land by Narmada dam oustees to claim special rehabilitation package from Madhya Pradesh government.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed Director General of Police Anand Rao Pawar to set up SIT comprising police and CID officers, official sources said today. Mr Chouhan also directed to complete the investigation in a time-frame and to hand over the matter to the Economic Offences Wingh for further action.

During preliminary inquiry, the district authorities found 16 fake land registries in Dhar district, 98 in Khargone and 3 in Badwani. First Information Report have been registered in 13 cases in Dhar and 53 cases in Khargone.

The state's rehabilitation policy for Sardar Sarovar Project oustees provides for a special rehabilitation package to enable the displaced people to purchase agriculture land of their choice. The government provides the amount in two instalments. The second instalment is paid on producing registry of land purchased.

The Narmada Valley Development Authority received complaints that certain farmers of Dhar, Khargone and Badwani districts got the second instalment of SRP by producing fake registries of agriculture land.
