Patna, Sep 20 (UNI) An undertrial prisoner was shot dead while six others including three lawyers were injured in a shoot out in Patna civil court premises today.
According to police about six miscreants attacked the prisoners Harivansh Rai and Madan Paswan when they were being escorted to the court room from the court lockup for production.
Harivansh Rai died on the spot while Madan Paswan was injured in the incident. While fleeing, the criminals also lobbed bombs in which three lawyers namely Sudhir Kumar, Parshuram Singh and Sanjay Kumar Sinha were injured seriously. The criminals also hurled bombs outside the court premises in which Kamlesh Sharma, a typist and one Akhilesh Sharma also sustained injuries.
The police said that live bombs packed in a bag were recovered from a nearby shop.
Meanwhile, the district bar association convened an emergency meeting and condemned the incident. The lawyers decided to abstain from the judicial work till foolproof security arrangements were made in the court premises.
