No proposal to dissolve Assemblies: PML

Islamabad, Sep 20: There was no proposal under consideration for dissolution of the present assemblies or for extension in their term, Pakistan Muslim League chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said.

Addressing a press conference here yesterday, the PML president said the announcement regarding doffing of uniform by President Pervez Musharraf ''is in accordance with the aspirations of the opposition''.

''The nation would soon hear more good news,'' he added. He called on the Opposition parties to exercise their democratic responsibility by participating in the electoral process.

''Whether they cast vote in our favour or otherwise, but they should exercise their democratic obligation by casting it,'' he said.

Regarding the ongoing negotiations with the Benazir Bhutto-led Pakistan People's Party, Mr Hussain said, ''Only a judicious power sharing formula could be implemented.'' He added that dialogue was on with different political parties.
