Srinagar, Sep 20 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir High Court today introduced Inter Active Voice Response System (IAVRS) for advocates and litigants as its latest step forward to provide transparent and easy access to justice.

The IAVRS, inaugurated by Chief Justice Aftab Alam at the High Court complex here, will help advocates, litigants and the general public to get information regarding their case status through a mere phone call sitting in their homes.

This facility will also enable litigants living in remote areas to get information about their cases without coming to the High Court.

The system will function round the clock, including after office hours and during holidays.

Justice Alam said with the IAVRS, there is no need for using a computer or accessing the internet as information about a case can readily be obtained by making a phone call, even from the local PCO.

He said besides lawyers, advocate generals, the Central Government, Central Administrative Tribunal, Public Service Commission and the public will benefit from this facility.
