Bhopal, Sep 20 (UNI) Leader of the opposition in the Assembly and senior tribal leader Jamuna Devi today sat on day-long fast at the Roshanpura Square in the capital as part of the Congress agitation against the BJP government framing corruption charges against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his 14 cabinet colleagues.
Deputy Speaker Hazarilal Raghuvanshi, party spokepersons Manak Agrawal and K K Mishra and former MLA P C Sharma were also present.
Charging the BJP government with indulging in corruption and protecting corrupt practices, Ms Jamuna Devi alleged that the state administration was embroiled in corruption with the connivance of BJP leaders and corrupt elements.
Besides the Chief Minister, other ministers against whom corruption charges were levelled by the opposition include: Babulal Gaur, Himmat Kothari, Jayant Malaiya, Kailash Vijayvargiya, Narottam Mishra, Gopal Bhargava, Anup Mishra, Kusum Mehdele, Choudhary Chandrabhan Singh, Vijay Shah, Ajay Vishnoi, Kamal Patel, Laxmikant Sharma and Gangaram Patel.
Various scandals including those related to Simhasta, social security pension, admission in private medical and nursing colleges, nutrition scheme and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan were cited as instances of corruption during the BJP rule.
Ms Devi alleged that government property was being plundered with the connivance of builders, contractors and industrialists and said the Congress campaign was aimed at unseating the BJP from power.
