Arms licenses renewal mandatory in Meghalaya

Shillong, Sept 20 (UNI) The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District, has notified that arms licenses were not renewed regularly by the licensees in the state.

''It has been brought to the notice that firearms are being handed down from parent to children without proper licenses which is illegal,'' a release said .

''Henceforth, all arms licences should be renewed timely and any person acquiring and possessing firearms and ammunition without holding a license issued in accordance with the provisions of the Arms Act, 1959 and the rules framed thereunder will be liable to be prosecuted as per law,'' the release added.
