Chennai, Sept 19 (UNI) Senior Congress Leader and Union Minister of state for textiles E V K S Elangovan today likened his party's oft-repeated demand for a share in power in Tamil Nadu to that of the fox and sour grapes story and said ''we have lost hope on the issue''.

Asked about his party's status on the demand, on the sidelines of a function here, he said ''we have demanded it several times, but were denied again and again''.

Likening it to that of a fox making a vain bid to reach a bunch of grapes and giving it up terming that they might be sour, Mr Elangovan said ''Intha Pazham Pulikkum. (this fruit is sour) and we dropped it''.

''We are happy that we are not part of the government'', he hastened to add.

On the attack on Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's daughter's residence in Bangalore last evening, he condemned it and said such attacks were not justified.

''It is his (Karunanidhi's) personal opinion'', Mr Elangovan quipped when asked about the remarks made by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister on the controversial Ram Sethu issue, which was the root cause for the attack and the subsequent torching of a Tamil Nadu state government bus that left two people killed.
