SBBJ employees to strike on Sept 27 against merger with SBI

Jaipur, Sep 19 (UNI) Employees of the State Bank of Bikaner&Jaipur (SBBJ) will go on strike across the country on September 27 in protest against the merger of the bank with State Bank of India.

A dharna and demonstration at the SBBJ head office will be organised here tomorrow against the merger of seven subsidiary banks including the SBBJ with the SBI.

All India SBBJ Employees Coordination Committee general secretary Mahesh Mishra said SBI board had passed a proposal favouring the merger of the seven subsidiaries with the SBI at its meeting held in August 25 in Mumbai.

He said the State Sector Bank Employees Association and Akhil Bharatiya State Bank of Indore Officers Coordination Committee had decided to organise nation-wide protest against the merger proposal.

He said about 8000 employees working at the 885 branches of the SBBJ will organise the strike on September 27.
