Bhopal, Sep 19 (UNI) Karnataka's Poonam Boijana sprang a big surprise win on the third day of the 47th National Senior Interstate Athletics Championships 2007 when she snatched victory by pushing Andhra Pradesh's J J Shobha -- who has bagged several international medals -- to second place in 100m hurdles clocking 14.28 seconds.
Shobha completed the distance in 15.00 seconds and had to contend with a silver. Uttar Pradesh's Kranti Morya came third clocking 16.42 seconds.
It was a pleasant day for Madhya Pradesh when Omprakash won gold in 300 m steeplechase event.
Kerala continued to maintain its supremacy on the third day of the championship winning three gold and three silver. Madhya Pradesh had receved one silver earlier.
Jharkhand's Gajanan Uppadhyay created a new record in pole vault event clearing 5.05 m.
Haryana girl Phoolvati clinched the gold in the women's hammer throw followed by Vipin Kumari (Delhi) and Sukanya Mishra (Uttar Pradesh).
Punjab boy Shamsher Pratap Singh emerged winner in the long jump followed by Pushpinder Singh (Uttar Pradesh) and Bharatendra Singh (Haryana).
Punjab's Nonidh won in men's 110 m hurdle race, while Chhattisgarh's MD Naseem KM came first in men's 400 m run and Kerala's C Hamja emerged winner in men's 1500 m race.
West Bengal's Sutapa Das won in women's 400m race, while Kerala's O P Jaisha emerged winner in women's 1500 m race.
Kerala's Mayukha Johni clinched the gold in triple jump.
