Oracle eyes massive growth in database market

Mumbai, Sep 18: World's largest enterprise software company Oracle, which has a global revenue of 7 billion US dollars, today said nearly 50 Indian companies have implemented its product Oracle database 11 g in last three months.

Oracle, which has a market share of 55-60 per cent in Indian domain, is planning to sustain its 14.9 per cent growth in the domestic market by leveraging Oracle data base 11g across all segments of business.

''Over 80 per cent of our business in India is managed through our partners. Organizations that manage very high volumes of data through self-managing data bases will benifit from 11 g,'' said Oracle India Vice president (technology sales) SPS Grover while talking to reporters.

Oracle Database 11g, which was launched in July, hit the markets through Linux operating systems in August and is the most innovative and highest quality software product of Oracle.

Oracle has a global marketshare of 47.1 per cent in Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) while IBM has 21.1 per cent.

The product offers an array of innovative features like strong data management capabilities, data center automation and enhanced security capabilities like transparent data encryption.

Companies that employed Oracle database 11g include HCL Technologies Limited, Infosys Technologies Limited, Satyam Computer Services Limited, Tata Consultancy Limited and Wipro Limited.
