NABARD allots Rs 544.03 cr to TN for projects
Chennai, Sep 19 (UNI) NABARD has sanctioned a sum of Rs 544.03 crore to Tamil Nadu for implementation of various projects.
In a release here today, NABARD Chief General Manager K V Raghavulu said the funds would be utilised to upgrade 1,491 village roads in 29 districts, improve 487 Ooranies (water harvesting structures) in Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram, and implement 23 flood protection projects in Cauvery coleroon banks in Karur, Tiruchirapalli and Perambalur.
He said completion of the road projects would lead to better market accessibility and save travel time and cost.
Ooranies would augment the drinking water resources of the local people and flood protection works would help in protecting the properties during floods and avoiding loss of lives.
