Musharraf says to fulfill pledge given before SC

Islamabad, Sep 19 (UNI) Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has assured that he will keep his pledge made before the Supreme Court on divesting his uniform if re-elected.

Gen Musharraf said this while holding another round of talks yesterday with his political and legal aides to finalise the strategy for the upcoming presidential elections and the political scenario, The Nation reported.

The meeting was held at the President's Camp Office in Rawalpindi and was attended by ruling PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Secretary General PML Mushahid Hussain Sayed and legal aides of the President, including his chief counsel Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada.

The meeting discussed issues pertaining to Gen Musharraf's re-election and the petitions pending against him in the country's apex court.

The paper quoted sources saying that Chaudhry Shujaat Husain assured the President that the ruling coalition partners had the required strength to re-elect him.
