EVR Govt College closes due to students unrest

Tiruchirapalli, Sep 19 (UNI) The Periyar E V R Government College, Tiruchirapalli, was closed indefinately, following the students unrest from today.

Official sources here said a section of students abstained from their classes for the past few days, protesting against the abuse of some teachers, keeping their castes in mind.

Talking to newspersons here, College Principal Mrs Ganasironmani, said two students of the college were suspended for eve-teasing and another was suspended from the hostel.

A High-level Committee of Professors had confirmed eve-teasing against the women students. The concerned students also admitted the crime.

Ms Gansironamani said to escape from punishment, the suspended students had instigated others to abstain from classes.
