New Delhi, Sep 19 (UNI) Union Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni has cancelled her visit to New York to attend the Incredible India@ 60, a four-day India branding extravaganza beginning September 23, in view of the turmoil in the Congress over the Ram Sethu affidavit fiasco.
'' Ms Soni has cancelled her trip. She is not going there,'' highly-placed sources told UNI here tonight, while pointing out that she would be represented at the event by Tourism Secretary Sheel Bhadra Banerjee.
Ms Soni was to leave for New York on September 22 to attend the India@60 in which Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi, Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Commerce Minister Kamal Nath are also participating.
The sources said Ms Soni had cancelled her visit especially in the context of her being not able to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and narrate him her side of the story. Though she has already sought an appointment, she has yet to be given one by Dr Singh, who is recuperating after surgery.
Ms Soni, whose resignation was demanded by her party members for the affidavit goof up, has been keeping away from all meetings for the past four days.
